At one point or another we all have had to deal with dry, itchy and uncomfortable scalp. Many times we have been the cause. Dry, itchy, scalp can be prevented and cured by following these 7 very simple steps!

1. Stop Using Shampoos with Sulfates

Unfortunately the cheaper the shampoos are usually the worst for our hair! Cheap shampoos also contain sulfates, and harsh detergents that dry out the scalp and hair! Invest in a shampoo that does not contain sulfates like Tgin’s Mositure Rich Sulfate Free Shampoo for Natural Hair which does not contain any harsh chemicals, and leaves hair feeling moisturized.

2. Stop Over Greasing the Scalp

Contrary to Popular belief greasing the scalp can cause more harm than good. Greasing the scalp does not keep the hair moisturized or promote hair growth. In fact, using grease on your scalp actually blocks the natural oils that come out of the scalp. By blocking these natural oils the scalp becomes dry and oils that the hair needs to stay moisturized are unable to travel down the hair shaft. Allow your body to do its job and stop blocking it with grease! If you absolutely feel you need to use grease or your scalp has become increasingly dry, use our Argan Replenishing Hair and Body Serum it’s light weight and won’t clog your pores.

3. Properly Cleanse Scalp

Now that you are using the correct shampoo and have stopped greasing your scalp you must be sure that you are properly cleansing. Even after washing their hair, many women still have built up residue on the scalp.Residue on the scalp can cause irritation, flakes, as well as dryness and an itchy irritated scalp. You must be sure that you are properly scrubbing/massaging the scalp while shampooing. Massaging the scalp helps to break up build up as well as stimulate hair growth. Best sure that you aren’t just applying the shampoo and conditioner to your hair and rinsing it out but allow using your fingers to massage your scalp, and rinse thoroughly to ensure there is no excess residue left behind.

4. Avoid Gels

Who doesn’t want their edges laid? We know that hair gel, and edge control type products can do wonders for fly aways and uncontrollable baby hair, but gel can also cause dry/itchy scalp as well. Many gels contain drying alcohols that no only dry the hair out but also the scalp! If you are addicted to your gel, go easy on it. Be sure not to apply to the length of your hair and certainly avoid your scalp.

5. Use Tea Tree Oil

If you have tried to eliminate all of the above products and you are still suffering from dry, itchy, scalp you should try tea tree oil. Tea tree oil has anti-fungal, and antibacterial properties. Tea tree oil works great with natural carrier oils like grape seed oil, olive oil, jojoba, and apricot. You can also add a few drops to water in  a spray bottle. Simply spray it on your scalp, or apply with the oil. These combinations help to get rid of dry, itchy scalp by getting rid of the bacteria that may be causing it.

6.Use Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is another great at home remedy to combat dry scalp. Sometimes dry scalp can be caused by an imbalance in your ph levels. Apple cider vinegar evens out your ph balance and relieves scalp itchiness. Dilute with water and apply to the scalp for relief.

7. Try Olive Oil

Olive oil is an all around life saver! It can be used for hair, skin, and nails not to mention its internal benefits! Olive Oil is packed with vitamin E and help to effectively relieve and cure dry scalp!
