Winter is finally here, and cooler temperatures are known for taking on a toll on hair, skin, nails and lips.  We have compiled a list of all that you need to know to prevent hair breakage, dry skin, chapped lips and brittle nails this winter, along with all of our products that will do the trick in ensuring you are moisturized from head to toe all winter long.

Hair

When it comes to protecting your hair this winter, investing in a quality hair care line  is critical.  tgin is specifically formulated to make your hair softer, more moisturized and much more manageable. When it comes to shampoos, you’ll want to skip the $0.99 shampoos and invest in a quality sulfate free shampoo made with natural oils.  Sulfate free shampoos like tgin’s Moisture Rich Sulfate Free Shampoo are much gentler on the hair and contain milder detergent that do not strip the hair of its natural oils,  which is great for keeping the hair soft and manageable during colder temperatures. Using a leave In conditioner  like our Green Tea  Super Moist Leave In Conditioner during winter months is great for adding additional moisture and helping the hair to stay hydrated. Deep conditioning is also critical in keeping your hair soft and healthy. Incorporating any of tgin’s lconditioners into your weekly hair regimen will go a long way towards keeping your hair soft all winter.

Additional hair hacks

o   Skip blow drying and flat ironing the hair to help keep hair from drying out.

o    If you must blow dry the hair, allow the hair to air dry completely, or almost 80%, to minimize heat damage.

o   The same is true with flat ironing the hair. Turn down the temperature dial or take less passes over the hair to reduce dryness.

Skin

Everyone loves a long hot shower,  but in wintertime hot water can leave your skin feeling tight and dry. If you can, try showering with warm water or if you really like to turn up the heat, make your  shower short and sweet.  You’ll also want to move away from conventional soaps and try using a natural soap instead. Using a natural soap made with natural oils is far gentler on the skin. tgin’s Natural soaps with Shea Butter and Olive Oil are handmade with olive and coconut oil for extra moisture. When you’re done showering, applying a moisturizer is also critical to keeping the skin soft and smooth during winter months. tgin’s African Shea Butter is a super moisturizing body butter that leaves your skin moisturized, but not greasy.

Additional skin hacks

o  Invest in a humidifier. Humidifier’s help turn cool dry air into warm moist air, which will keep your skin, hair, nails and lip soft and supple all winter long.

o  Drink plenty of water to keep your skin soft. You can either go the bottled water route, or invest in a recyclable water bottle and be kind to the environment.

Nails

When it comes to nails, if you want to make sure they are protected and don’t have the time or money for regular manicures, invest in a simple base coat to help seal in oils and prevent dry, brittle nails or breakage. Try OPI’s Start to Finish Base Coat, Top Coat and Strengthener 3 in 1 Treatment. Also, applying a cuticle oil will help keep the skin around the nail bed nice and soft this winter. Try OPI’s Prospa Nail and Cuticle Oil or Vitamin E oil can do the trick.

Lips

Finally, in colder seasons, it’s important to keep a good lip balm on deck. Just remember, when it comes to lip balms you get what you pay for. Less expensive lip balms with artificial flavors like cherry and bubble gum contain synthetic additives which dry your lips out and force you to apply all day long. Look for a natural lip balm like tgin Shea Butter Lip Balm, which is made with natural ingredients, to keep your lips super soft and kissable this holiday season.

Will you be gifting any of these winter goodies this season or keeping them for yourself?
